In a couple of hours, I’m calling in to a group in Tennessee, with two more scheduled already for June–another call-in (not quite sure which state) and an in-person visit to a club in Lexington. Great News from Australia and New Zealand

So far The Sisters has been wonderfully well-received in Australia and New Zealand, with good reviews in New Zealand’s Sunday Star Times, The Sydney Morning Herald and Vogue Australia. I haven’t been able to locate those reviews online as yet, but you can click the link for a terrific review from The Hoopla Literary Society.

I’m grateful to the entire team at Text Publishing for taking such good care of my book and for working so hard to get the word out on The Sisters.

2012 Southern Kentucky Book Fest

I’m really looking forward to the Southern Kentucky Book Fest this coming weekend in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This is a not-to-be-missed event for book lovers from Nashville to Louisville and beyond! I’ll be reading from The Sisters at 10:00 a.m. this Saturday, April 21 in Classroom 112 at the Knicely Conference Center, and then I’ll be at my signing table in the main hall with all the other authors. And bring a big tote so you can go home with lots of wonderful books!

A Bookish Visit to Historic Rugby

I’m thrilled to report that tomorrow morning, Saturday, April 15, I’ll be on my way to beautiful Historic Rugby to speak about The Sisters in the Rebecca Johnson Theatre at 4:00 p.m. Rugby is special to me for many reasons. Until last summer, I lived only an hour away from this glorious place and I visited often, most often in recent years with my dog Gordy in tow. No matter how sad, tired, or stressed I’m feeling, I know time in Rugby will restore and refresh. As a writer, I’m also truly honored to be talking about my book in Rugby, a village founded by the writer and visionary Thomas Hughes.

If you’re out and about near Rugby, Tennessee tomorrow–less than an hour from Knoxville–I hope you’ll stop in–but even if tomorrow is not the day, put Historic Rugby on your travel radar. You won’t be sorry! It will ever be in my top five of happiest places on earth, right along with my own little nest and my best friend’s kitchen table.

Jeffersonville Township Public Library

This zings my heartstrings in multiple ways, being, as I am, a lover of libraries. Jeffersonville is also right next door to my hometown of New Albany, so it’s just like going home. So far, I haven’t been able to figure out how to post the whole of Miriyana Alexander’s review of The Sisters, which appeared in New Zealand’s Sunday Start Times on April 1, 2012, but I can excerpt a little of it here. Of The Sisters, Miriyana Alexander says it is “a beautiful story of love and betrayal, and the secrets that can shape families for generations….Jensen’s debut novel deserves to set her on the road to the big time.”

Author’s Brunch & Silent Auction

This Saturday I’ll be participating at a guest speaker at the Berea, Kentucky branch of the American Association for University Women’s Author’s Brunch & Silent Auction. Proceeds from book sales and from the silent auction go to fund scholarships for women. I’m truly honored to have been invited to speak as part of a program that includes Kentucky Poet Laureate Maureen Morehead–and for such a great cause!
